Custom Compact Springs Designed to Support a Storage Tank

These compact spring supports were custom designed to support a storage tank at a facility in Texas. The housing was fabricated from A-36 carbon steel and hot-dipped galvanized to protect them against corrosion. The disc springs are engineered using the stainless steel Belleville disc springs designed for large loads but small movements. In this case, the springs are designed to support a load of 5,000 lb. and movement of 0.25″ (upward). Each assembly underwent load testing prior to shipment.

PT&P custom designed and manufactured big ton constant spring supports w/ bronzphite® slide plates for a 400 KTA light oil for a processing and utilization unit at an oil refinery in China. A total of four constant assemblies were fabricated from carbon steel and hot-dipped galvanized for extra protection against corrosion. The bronze plate acts as the bearing surface, supporting heavy loads, while the graphite inserts provide a solid, oil-free sliding surface. They are designed for operating temperatures up to 750°F and an operating load of 187,393 lb., with 1-1/2″ total travel. Load and travel testing was performed prior to shipment.

Cryogenic Pipe Supports Designed for a Facility in Massachusetts

PT&P received an order to custom design 16 cryogenic pipe supports for a contractor in Massachusetts. They needed a pipe forming a T-section lined with insulation and trimmed to accommodate the pipe perpendicular to the shoe length. The overall dimensions of the order are pipe sizes ranging from 36″ to 48″ in diameter, 52″ width and 57″ to 67″ height. Our insulation is designed to support the pipe and its contents. When insulated pipes are supported, the weight of the pipe, the contents, the operating temperature, and the amount of energy loss must be considered. In order to support the pipe and minimize energy loss from heat transfer, a pre-insulated pipe support is necessary. If the material in the pipe is high temperature such as high pressure steam or heating oil, then high temperature insulation is required, and these supports are called hot shoes. If the material is cold, such as liquefied natural gas, cooling water or ammonia, then low temperature insulation is needed, and these types of supports are called cold shoes.

U-Type Constant Spring Supports Designed for a Power Plant

PT&P designed and manufactured 48 constant spring supports for a power plant in Mexico. The constants pictured above are Fig. 200 U-type constant spring supports fabricated from A-36 carbon steel and include PTFE, 25% glass filled slide plates bonded to the load flange. The supports are 39″ H x 26″ W x 80″ L and are designed for operating loads up to 8,200 lb., with a total travel of 11-1/2″. These are horizontal constants designed to support piping from below in conjunction with a pipe saddle. All the constants went through standard load and travel testing per MSS Standards prior to shipment.

PT&P custom designed variable spring support assemblies for a furnace application at an ammonia plant. The furnace springs are fabricated from carbon steel and painted with a red-oxide primer to help prevent corrosion. The pipe clamps are fabricated from 304 stainless steel. They are designed to support a cold load of almost 3,000 lb./in. while operating in an area where temperatures are higher than ambient. There were a total of 173 assemblies fabricated for this project, 152 variable hangers, 3 constant spring supports, 6 ball joint rigid struts, and 12 rigid rod hangers. Special load tests were performed prior to shipping.

This big ton spring support assembly was designed for a facility in Kansas. The assemblies are fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized carbon steel and include neoprene coated springs coils. The travel stops and load column material is A193 Gr. B7. The units measure 29″ wide x 110″ long x 35″ high and are capable of supporting loads up to 98,250 lb. while accommodating movements from 1-3/4″ upward. The big tons were tested with a load cell to insure proper operation throughout the big ton’s operating range.

The constants are 25″ in height, 17-3/8″ in length, and 11-5/8″ in width. Their load capacities range from 981 lb. to 1828 lb., with a vertical movement ranging from 2-1/2″ to 3″. All constants were fabricated from A-36 carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanized finish, and underwent standard load and travel testing per MSS Standards prior to shipment.

Piping Technology & Products custom designed and fabricated pre-insulated pipe supports for high temperature application in an HP Steam Header located in Texas. These hot shoes range in size from 2″ to 12″ in diameter and are 12″, 15″ and 18″ long, with BOP of 4″ and 6″. The supports include a thin blanket insulation. The trunnion assembly is resting on a high compressive strength insulation material. These supports are designed for temperatures up to 844°F with an operating load of 17,965 lb. at 732 psig. A total of 95 supports were manufactured for this project, including pipe hangers, pipe shoes with insulation and trunnion supports, as well as pipe shoe clamps without insulation. All supports were inspected by Q.C. and the insulated supports underwent a simulation on ANSYS.

Piping Technology & Products designed these trapeze roller hangers for a food processing facility in Kentucky. These rollers range from 2-5/8″ to 16-3/8″ in length and 4″ to 16″ in diameter. They are comprised of cast iron roll and sockets, steel roll rod, continuous thread rods and hex nuts. The rollers are for pipe sizes ranging from 2″ to 16″ and load ratings from 600 to 3,970 lb. Standard quality control inspections were performed prior to shipment.
