This constant utilizes sealed cam follower roller bearings in place of slide plates that are generally used between the moving table and stationary frame. The rollers help to reduce the friction on the table, reduce residual loads which improve constant deviation, and help to restrict table movement in horizontal directions. These U-Type constants are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with dimensions of 28″H x 37″L x 17″W. The boxing, bolting patterns and loading table location are custom designed per customer specifications. The design also includes a graphite plate bonded to the top of the load flange to reduce the friction between the constant load flange and the saddle support above it. The supports are designed to carry 3015 lb. of piping load with an upward travel of 6″. The constants underwent standard load and travel testing before being shipped to an energy plant.

This PT&P 100 C-Type constant spring support was designed in conjunction with special lugs to fit inside of a trolley. The lugs will provide for movement up and down, as well as extensive horizontal movement. This constant was fabricated entirely from A-36 carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanize finish. The constant measures 16″ wide x 25″ long x 56″ high. It is designed to carry 16,164 lb. of piping load with a travel of 3 1/2″ downward. The lugs will fit within a trolley by a single pin connection. This configuration will prevent swinging by maintaining the constant in an upright position, which will ensure proper functionality and eliminate any load deviation.

These custom designed constants will be utilized for a heavy load of 109,000 lb. They are designed for a downward travel of 1 1/2″. In order to support the heavy load and low take-off, the constants are designed with an inner and outer spring coil with the outer coil measuring 56″L with a 18 3/4″ O.D. These U-Type constants are fabricated from A36 carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanize finish.

The dimensions of the constant are 31″H x 90″L x 32″W. The image above shows a PTFE, 25% glass filled slide plate on top to reduce the friction between the constant load flange and the structure above the support. The constant also includes slide plates between the table and the frame of the constant to reduce the friction on the table and improve constant deviation.

These variable springs are custom designed from carbon steel material. The springs are fabricated with extra long housings to allow for a pre-compression lower than the standard. This ensured that the starting (cold) load of 26,745 lb. could be achieved. The springs are designed for a movement of 5.55″ downward, which would produce an operating load for each assembly of 38,305 lb. These springs are to be utilized in pairs together with a 22″ riser clamp to produce a 407″ total pipe hanger assembly length and an overall combined operating load of 76,610 lb.

These A-36 carbon steel constants have a hot dipped galvanize finish and designed for an oil refinery. They have a single lug suspension and can support a piping load of 5,031 lb. The dimensions are 36 1/2″H x 21″L x 11 5/8″W. This type of spring support is designed to support the pipeline from above using a carbon steel clamp.

This constant spring support is fabricated from A-36 carbon steel and measures 39″ long x 29″ high x 11″ wide. This replacement support is designed to carry 11,000 lb. of piping load with a travel of 2 1/2″ upward. The limiting design factor was to stay within existing structural boundaries while allowing the constant assembly to move through its designed travel range.

Fabricated from A-36 carbon steel, these PTP-4 A-Type variable spring supports measure 6 5/8″ OD x 19 9/16″ in length with an installed load of 596 lb. They have a spring rate of 56 lb/in., and a downward travel of 1.375″. These supports are designed to suspend from a rod that is threaded through the upper portion of the variable (see Fig. PTP-4). This particular design is generally used to keep the variable further away from the beam to avoid interference.

These 200-C type constants are fabricated from A-36 carbon steel and are designed for a load ranging between 17,800 lb. and 25,600 lb. The constants have a downward travel ranging between 12 1/2″ and 16″. This support maintains a constant load throughout the designed travel. The diameter of the spring coil housing is 21″. The design includes a universal locking device capable of locking the hanger rod at any desired position. It also includes lifting lugs that aid in installing the constant in the field. Standard load and travel testing was performed before shipping to a steam plant.

This big ton spring assembly is designed for a local area refinery, and is fabricated from carbon steel components with a painted finish. The top of the load flange has three PTFE, 25% glass filled slide plates. The base is 96″ x 18″ and the installed height is 24″. This big ton spring will be utilized to support heavy (in excess of 76,000 lb.) loads where a standard variable spring would be undersized. The big ton spring design includes an array of parallel coils within one frame to produce large load carrying capacity while maintaining the same spring rate. The assembly is designed to withstand an operating load of 76,800 lb. and has a downward travel of 0.894″.

Prior to fabrication, each of the coils were individually tested to insure correct spring rate and load capacity. After fabrication, the entire assembly was tested throughout the entire load and travel range.
