PT&P’s Sweco Fab division designed and manufactured a pig launcher and receiver with a flag type indicator and a flanged HI-T Pig Alert pig signaler. They are fabricated from carbon steel with a three coat paint system. The pig launcher has an 8” diameter minor barrel, a 10” diameter major barrel, and is 110” in overall length. The pig receiver has a 10” major barrel, a GD II Closure and is 170” in overall length. They are designed for 430 psig at 100°F and were hydro-tested at 645 psig , held for four hours. Both pig launcher and receiver went through a 100% radiography test prior to shipment.

They are designed for operating loads of 36,000 lb. with a travel of .5625″ down.

Due to the harsh and corrosive environment, the exposed metal surfaces were finished with a three-coat urethane paint while the threaded components were cadmium plated with a blue Fluorocarbon coating. The big tons were also salt water spray tested according to ASTM B117 standards, and load tested to verify the springs’ functionality throughout the entire travel range.

These pre-insulated pipe supports were manufactured for a Houston based engineering and construction company to complete an on-going project in South Africa. The polyurethane foam insulation is wrapped with a vapor barrier to prevent moisture, and the ends are coated with a monolar mastic paint to seal the pores. The carbon steel fabrication that surrounds the insulation has an elaborate three-coat paint system to help protect the steel from corrosion. This design allows for an integral combination of insulation and structural support in one pipe support assembly. It also minimizes labor in the field in regards to the installation of insulation.
