What type of situations would exist where the installed load is greater than the operating load?

This would occur when the spring is specified for upward travel or in other words, upward movement. An example of the load becoming less during operation would be in a steamed line where in our initial stage our pipe would be filled with water and subsequent heating of that pipeline would produce steam; the steam having less density than water would produce a lighter load at that location.
