How much movement can variable springs take? |
In general terms, the
amount of vertical deflection that can be accommodated by the variable springs is dependent upon the spring rate. In practicality, PTP-1 is used for travels
one-quarter inch or less, PTP-2 for travels are one-half inch or less, PTP-4 is
one-inch or less, PTP-6 two-inches or less, and PTP-8 is three-inches or less.
In terms of horizontal deflection, all variable spring assemblies can
accommodate a maximum of + or - 4 degrees. Therefore the magnitude of the
horizontal deflection will depend upon the overall length of the entire
assembly.
