When would one use piping cold shoes?

In general, insulated pipe shoes are used whenever one is trying to incorporate a support which provides both load carrying ability and insulating properties simultaneously. Normally cold pipe shoes are used in cryogenic applications where operating temperatures are below 32 degrees F.
