Sweco Fab, Inc. Designs and Manufactures 20" Stainless Steel Suction Strainers for a Chemical Plant in Louisiana 3/22/02

Sweco Fab, the ASME fabrication shop of Piping Technology & Products, Inc., specially designed and manufactured two 20" OD x 36" long, suction strainers for a chemical plant in Louisiana.

The strainers, which were fabricated from SS32, each weigh 1,300 pounds. They were designed at 300 psig and 600° F and built to ASME code. In order to insure quality of the welds, PT&P's Q.C. inspectors 100% x-ray tested butt welds of longitudinal seams and circumference seams, head to shell. Other pressure containment welds were dye penetrant examined. The unit, as a whole, was hydrotested at 390 psig.
