I. Welded Structural Attachments:

Description
These components are used where welded attachment to existing structural members is required. The size, location and length of weld will be dependent upon of the existing steel size and the load rating of the support. Please refer support drawings, after welding of component; Use Bolt or other assembly components.

Description
  1. The components within this coupling are intended to connect to similarly threaded components. Each will provide same length adjustment of the overall assembly configuration
  2. Care must be maintained to insure that the threaded have not been damaged prior to installation
  3. Full threaded engagement (equal to one rod diameter) must be maintained at all times between mating components. After all length adjustments have been completed. Re- Verify minimum threaded engagement has been maintained.
  4. Where applicable, use available Hex Nut to act as locking device between mating components.

Description
The clamping devices in this category are intended to be used whenever pipe attachment is made by mechanical (Non- Welded) means.

The Fig. 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 190 pipe clamps are installed in a simple fashion as follows:

  1. Position clamp halves around pipe outer diameter
  2. 2) Position spacer between clamp halves (For Fig. 50, 60 at lower clamp bolt; For Fig. 70, 80 at middle bolt; For 190 at inner bolts)
  3. Tighten at spacer location.
  4. Install remaining clamp bolts while simultaneously attaching Load Bolt to applicable support sub-component(Fig 40, 110 etc) Bolt(s)
  5. Tighten all clamp bolts insuring that the clamp halves remain parallel to each other
  6. Use lock nuts where available

The Fig. 83, 89, 42 and 43 clamps will be installed as per the following:

  1. Position lower clamp section (Strap or U-Bolt) on to piping
  2. Bring upper clamp section in to position over lower section
  3. Attach upper section with either load bolt (Fig 83 and 89) or with Hex Nuts (Fig. 42, 43)
  4. Tighten clamp using available threaded component
  5. Attach lock nuts where available
  6. Affix upper connection at clamp to threaded hanger rod or bolt / pin component where applicable.

IV. U-Bolts :

Description
U-bolts of threaded bar formed to the counter of the pipe OD or to the Outer diameter of pipe + Insulation. The U-Bolts can be used as an anchor device or as a guiding element, when portion of the U-Bolt will protrude through the structural steel member and a Hex Nut will be positioned on the opposite face of the steel. The nut will then be sufficiently tightened to hold the pipe in position. A second nut will then be used as a locking device against the first nut. When used as a guide, the first nut will be positioned on the threaded portion of the U-Bolt and the pipe O.D. After the correct U-Bolt position has been established. A second nut will be positioned on the opposite side of the existing steel. Both Nuts should be tightened to the existing steel member.

V. Shoe Assemblies:

Description
These components consist of Cradle type components used to support piping system. They can be comprised of either a welded style assembly or a bolted assembly for welded shoes. The size, length and amount of welding will be shown on the Assembly drawing. Care should be taken to insure proper welding welding procedures are followed. Clamp on shoes will be bolted. Connection similar to the Fig. 50 and 60 clamped referenced in section 3. Installation should follow the same procedure as defined in the "Clamp" section of this manual
