U-Type Constant Spring Supports Designed for an LNG Plant in Canada

PT&P designed U-Type constant spring supports for an LNG plant in Canada. These are horizontal constants designed to support piping from below where the base plate is bolted directly to the top of the steel or the foundation using anchor bolts. These specific constant springs are designed to support an operating load of 67,420 lb. with 6” of total upwards travel. The constants are fabricated from galvanized carbon steel for protection against corrosion. Standard load and travel testing were completed to ensure the quality and performance of these constants.

300 Variable Spring Supports Designed for a Furnace Application at a Methanol Processing Facility

PT&P designed and fabricated 300 variable spring supports for use in a furnace within a methanol processing facility in Mexico. We manufactured the ”housing” of these variable springs using seamless pipe (in order to prevent the springs’ coils from rubbing against the ”weld seam” of a standard pipe) so that the exact spring rate (+/- 5%) can be calculated without discrepancies or variations. The reason that an accurate spring rate is important is because furnace springs function as a ”scale” in order to determine the weight of the radiant coils within the unit. These springs are coated with red oxide primer to protect against corrosion. We manufactured these furnace spring assemblies for an operating load of 1,036 lb. and a movement up to 8 1/2″. Each spring is traceable to test data and tagged with its’ unique spring rate along with other standard information use for identification.

Compact Spring Supports Designed for an Oil Refinery in Minnesota

These compact spring supports were custom designed for an oil refinery in Minnesota. Typically, compact spring supports are used to support large loads but small movements relieving process equipment nozzles from overloading. In this case, the springs are designed to support loads of 5,605 lb., 4,747 lb. and 1,250 lb. and movements of 0.133” and 0.029” upward and 0.199″ downward, respectfully.

Compact spring supports utilize engineered Belleville (disc spring) washers. Since these spring supports contain disc springs, both the support housings and the springs contained in the housings are made from 304 stainless steel. Corrosion resistance is significantly increased by using this combination. Glass coatings can also be applied to both the housing and springs to make the support system virtually impervious. Each assembly underwent load testing prior to shipment.

Over 400 Clevis Hanger Assemblies Designed for a Pulp and Paper Plant

PT&P supplied over 400 clevis hanger assemblies for a pulp and paper plant in Indonesia. The assemblies accommodate elevation differences ranging from 94-1/2″ to 138″ with pipe diameters ranging from 1″ to 24″ and a rod diameter range of 3/8″ to 1-1/4″. All components were fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized carbon steel and are designed for ambient temperatures and loads ranging from 700 lb. to 7500 lb.

Disc SpringsThe Compact Spring Support Webinar will cover key objectives, background and leading industry problems related to process equipment nozzels (both rotating and non-rotating equipment). Big Ton Spring Supports Designed to Support a Pressure Vessel in an LNG Facility in Australia

These big ton spring supports were custom designed for an LNG plant in Australia. These units were designed with PTFE, 25% glass filled slide plates, and will be used under the saddle supports of a horizontal pressure vessel. The big tons were selected due to a combination of confined space, heavy loads, and thermal expansion. The units measure 28-3/8″ x 25-3/8″ x 13” and are capable of supporting a load up to 11,488 lb while accommodating a down travel of 0.31 inches.
